Hello everything TO out there!total_coverage_small

Welcome to the first edition of Total Coverage, your very own community paper. Printed on the very finest piece of internet loorolls, ask dash about that and he’ll tell you all he knows of the phenomena. Total Coverage is meant to cover all the interesting bits and pieces going on in the community, ranging from matches to updates on what games people are playing at the moment – and of course what they think of the games! Total Coverage will also aim to give us updates on members and this is what the first issue will focus on, namely TO’s very own free pee’r, I.P. FR331Y aka. The more 2k9 friendly nick of: Fr331y.

Fr331y is the organizer of the CSS team of TO, at the moment the only active competitive team wearing our community tag. In future entries more info on this new “Total Coverage” part of Total Oblivion will be passed on, but at this moment and for a few more entries the Freely will stay in the center of attention!

Oh – before we start the people doing the work behind TC is Prox & Dash, anyone interested to contribute in any way are more than welcome to join in or do guest entries about anything between heaven and earth. Our undercover reporter is as I write this investigating about WHAT THE HELL REALLY HAPPENED in our old boy Sin’s life during his “downtime” since 2006. Stay tuned about that, information will be passed on when you least expect.

Sorry to keep you waiting again Fr331y, but there are just so many things to talk about when setting something new up. Current background music: Sinnerman. Stuck in yours truly’s head Since Sin’s return to action, link a few posts down in the thread: http://www.total-oblivion.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1618.

NOW – Fr331y! Give us your story, I know you have been biting you thumb all this time I have been holding you back from sharing your story!

I have been playing CSS with [TO] since the summer of 2005.

As with pretty much everyone else I just used to come on weekday nights and muck about on publics.

I think I played a few matches for the then [TO] team in clan combat when Jester ran the show with Snow’s help.

Myself, Typh00n Ruff and Sin then went to I25 with the hope of playing in the CSS tournament but with only 4 players didn’t think this would happen. Luckily we made friends with some guys from one of the more established CSS clans from that time and they showed us how to use IRC to find a 5th. With our new 5th that was called pidllespank.

We played our 3 group matches Wining 1 and sadly loosing 2.

The name of one of the teams we lost against was UQ gaming, who went on to place 2nd at the event, I can remember some uber crazy shotgun/P90 tactics called by Ruff, which worked against them!

We also played a couple of PCW’s at that Lan, against random teams, sadly losing these as well. However, this was our first taste of LAN gaming and was enjoyed by all of us!

Yes readers, this isn’t really an interview… We went into this trying to get a plain interview, but ended up with so much more! What you currently are reading is Fr331ys biography, complete with all the bias on his side – just as a Cutie, sry, d1rty H4Xx0r, like him would like it! XD

In this first part we have seen the start of the CSS history in TO community. Not surprising the all-out tactician Ruff came up with some out of the box ideas even as a teenager! Shotgun/p90 – that’s like spam on a sausage! Fr331y mate, on to the first LAN story!

Sadly on the way back from I25 something happened to my PC and it meant I was unable to play for the next 6-8 months. After changing half the components in my PC I finally
realized that it was a faulty power connection on the mobo and managed to get back online. In the time I had gone Jester had left the running of the CSS team had moved onto Noj and Sin. However Sin had moved over towards BF2 and Noj had become fed up of organizing things! So I volunteered to take over and tried to get things moving!

I found out about the magical channel #5on5.css in IRC which meant we could now get matches whenever we wanted! The team which consisted of pretty much anyone who was in [TO] but normally Me, Ruff, Noj, Snow, Schniz, Typhoon, Dash, Mack, Slug and Elminio.

Is it true that you once smudged Slug in the ear with your penis, pretending it to be your finger at i25 Fr331y? And speaking of the story, how close was the CSS team to die in this era of leader changes? Also, what I personally have been wondering for a long time is about css rage, is it more or less aggressive at a LAN than at home?

Sadly we then lost out 2 elimination matches the 2nd of which was a close game against NA on dust2. Their organization proved too much for our random public style!

A lot of [TO] was heading to I28 that year and we managed to get 2 teams out [TO]A consisting of Me, Drax, Ruff, Snow and Noj and [TO]B with Lini, Typh, Squirrel, Magical??? and Slug????. [TO]B got knocked out in the group stages but [TO]A managed to proceed by winning 2 and loosing 1. One of these wins was over the groups seeded team and again we managed to bring out the victory after some shotgun rushes called by Ruff came off on de_aztec.

I can also remember being in a 1v1 on the 2nd half pistol in this game and managing to sneak up on the opposition’s final player however after shooting him in the back once with the glock my gun started to click! Luckily he was shit and I managed to run around a corner while reloading and come back to win the round.

Things truly looked sad for the team after facing the fact of more trained gamers for the first time! Many teams cave under the pressure from experiencing more trained foes in matches, this does not apply to our CSS team who trained harder and came back stronger! Don’t fall asleep as Fr331ys story continue in our next entry – he will then go on to tell us about the teams attempt to conquer the Enemy Down league! Oh, and btw – i28 took place in 2006, if I remember right. Someone more into the I-series please correct this info if wrong. I love the trip down memory lane; it’s fascinating how gaming memories can stick like your duel with the opposition’s final player!

Thanks for reading everyone, I hope you like this first issue of Total Coverage. Next entry will, as stated, feature more of Fr331ys story, and perhaps something extra?

Have a good night & See you later.
